2024 Pinot Noir Single Vineyard
A silky, savoury Pinot Noir from the grape that thrives in cool, high places. Grown on our single vineyard at PepperGreen Estate, this wine is light to medium bodied, elegant and made for the table.
Our vines grow in the cool-climate Southern Highlands at Canyonleigh, 750 metres above sea level. Long, slow ripening preserves Pinot Noir’s delicate perfume and fine structure, while cool nights lock in freshness.
Pale garnet in the glass and gentle in style, it drinks beautifully with a slight chill. A versatile red that suits a weeknight dinner as well as a long weekend lunch.
Tasting Notes
- Pale garnet in colour.
- Savoury nose with a hint of sour cherry.
- Herbs and spice on the palate, light to medium bodied with soft tannins and a silky mouthfeel.
Food Pairing
Pinot Noir is one of the most food-friendly reds, with enough savoury depth for earthy dishes and enough lightness not to overwhelm delicate ones. It is a natural match for mushrooms, poultry and anything cooked with herbs.
Mushrooms and Risotto: Field mushroom risotto, mushroom and Gruyère tart, wild mushroom pappardelle, mushroom and thyme pasta
Poultry: Roast chicken with thyme, duck breast with cherry sauce, quail, roast turkey
Light Mains: Pan-seared salmon or ocean trout, herb-crusted pork fillet, lamb cutlets
Antipasto: Prosciutto and charcuterie, roasted beetroot, marinated mushrooms, grilled eggplant
Cheese: Brie, camembert, Gruyère, mild washed-rind cheeses
Serving Suggestion
Serve lightly chilled at 14 to 16 degrees in a large-bowled red wine glass. Best enjoyed with a slight chill, which keeps its cherry fruit and herbal spice fresh and lively.
