Two gold medals for the 2024 Semi-Dry Riesling Single Vineyard (Gold and 2026 Best Wine Pairing with Sushi) at the 2026 Sakura Wine Awards. That is not just our opinion. 430 women wine professionals in Tokyo blind tasted over 4,000 wines. Crisp acidity, gentle sweetness, clean finish. It works just as well with spicy Thai and Vietnamese dishes as with a plate of nigiri.
Meet "The Early One". Tempranillo takes its name from the Spanish word temprano, meaning early, because it ripens before every other red in the vineyard. The grape behind Rioja finds a fresh Australian voice in our cool climate single vineyard expression: medium-bodied, food-first and made for the table.
The Tempranillo was harvested at optimal ripeness, living up to its name as the first red off the vine, to capture the variety's bright fruit and natural spice.
This wine follows in the footsteps of our Gold Medal-winning 2021 Tempranillo, recognised in Tokyo at the Sakura Wine Awards alongside wines from Rioja and Bordeaux.
Crafted to let the variety speak for itself. The just-right red for those who find Shiraz too big and Pinot too light.
Tempranillo is one of the most naturally food-friendly red wines you will encounter. Its soft tannins and savoury spice make it the ultimate table wine, at home with everything from casual share plates to a long Sunday lunch.
Tapas and Share Plates: jamón, chorizo, patatas bravas, marinated olives, Manchego
Charcuterie: cured meats, terrines, aged cheddar, quince paste
From the Grill: steak, lamb cutlets, pork ribs, chargrilled vegetables
Slow Cooked: braised lamb shoulder, beef cheeks, oxtail ragu
Casual Classics: wood-fired pizza, mushroom risotto, burgers
Serve at 16 to 18 degrees in a medium-sized red wine glass. A short decant will open up its plum fruit and savoury spice. Enjoyable now and will continue to reward through 2030.
The 2022 Tempranillo is currently featured in our Tasting Room with Mushroom and sage arancini, sauteed local oyster mushrooms, aioli and parmesan.
